Ocean Paradise Resort. Roll that over your tongue and picture an image. Thinking of endless beaches, dazzling blue oceans and havens of coconut palms with all the comforting luxuries of a sumptuous beach resort? The name really does capture the essence of this enchanting place. When we first visited the construction site of this brand new hotel it was clear that a simply idyllic location had been chosen. We were therefore delighted to find, on our subsequent visits, that the finished Ocean Paradise Resort far exceeded our expectations.
This big international-style resort is situated in a 6,5 hectare palm grove and fronted by a magnificent stretch of coastline on Zanzibar’s beautiful northeast coast. The beautiful gardens have been landscaped using indigenous trees and plants to attract the various bird species on the island. It’s a place where your dreams of romantic holidays in paradise with your loved one can literally come true.
Ocean Paradise Resort has the largest and most impressive swimming pool in Zanzibar. It reminds us of an enticing tropical lagoon and is situated just metres from the shoreline. You can lie around on the plentiful sun loungers and order exotic cocktails from the bar. As you’d expect this hotel also has a fully-equipped water sports and fitness centre as well as a host of fun activities to keep you happy, healthy and active on your holiday.
This pavilion-style resort offers 100 stylish thatched rooms which are set in landscaped gardens sloping down to the beach. Expansive stone terraces, magnificent viewing decks, calming waterfalls and dreamy infinity pools add to the charm.
The warm welcome you receive in the grand reception, with its impressive colonnaded lobby, continues throughout your stay. The management team have had excellent experience in top-class beach resorts so you’re assured of superlative service.
Environmental issues: It’s reassuring for guests who like to travel responsibly to know that the developers of Ocean Paradise, Bahrain Hotels Company, have taken measures to reduce the environmental impact of this large resort. A waste recycling plant recycles all room, kitchen and laundry waste and the purified water is then used in the gardens. All refrigerators and air conditioners comply with the latest regulations concerning the use of CFCs and other gases harmful to the ozone layer. Guest’s rooms have been fitted with modern energy saving devices. All solid roof areas have been designed to collect rain water which is then stored, treated and used to supplement the hotel’s water supplies.
Luxurious rooms are situated in innovatively designed circular-shaped bungalows in the lush tropical gardens. Some are set on a rise on the escarpment while others are closer to the beach. They have wrap-around balconies and large bathrooms with delightful walk-in showers painted in earthy tones.
Using local textiles and materials, the rooms subtly reflect the traditional styles of East Africa. All rooms are well appointed with all modern conveniences as well as satellite television and radio. There are 100 bungalows divided into 84 Superior Rooms and 8 Junior Suites (with spacious living rooms). There are single and double bungalows.

Set on the upper level, the Ocean Restaurant offers superb views over the resort towards the beach. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and guests are offered a choice of Table d’hote menus, themed buffets and seafood barbeques.
For less formal meals and snacks, the Jahazi Restaurant and Pool Bar is located at the poolside which overlooks the Indian Ocean. Tuck into seafood and pizza over lunch or sip a decadent milkshake in the sun. A dinner menu is also available at Jahazi.
Sunset is the best time to hang out at the Bahari Lounge and Bar which opens from late afternoon to midnight. After cocktails at sunset enjoy the dazzling beauty of the night sky. Later on head for the Jungle Disco and Bar which rocks from 10pm to 3am.
